To celebrate Women’s Sport Week (October 3 – 9) the Ladies European Tour teamed up with the Manchester City Women’s Football Club to take part in the inaugural Etihad Cross Sport Challenge.
The Etihad Cross Sport Challenge consisted of each of our sports, golf and football, having two teams of three players competing across three challenges. The Ladies European Tour team featured Mel Reid, Carly Booth and Rosie Davies and they went up against Manchester City Women’s and England stars Steph Houghton MBE, Toni Duggan and Karen Bardsley.
All six professional athletes tried out each other sports, whilst demonstrating the quality and professionalism of their own respective sports. The first challenge was “Football Golf” which you can watch below and keep an eye out for the other two coming up on Thursday and Saturday this week.
Women’s Sport Week provides a fantastic opportunity to raise the profile of women’s sport across the UK and showcase women’s sport at every level, from the grassroots to the elite and highlight the contribution that women make to sport.
Our hope is that these videos will go some way in encouraging more girls and women to ‘pick up a club or kick a football’ and having fun giving these sports a try.
