Esther Henseleit Leads OOM

Germany’s Esther Henseleit has leapfrogged Nuria Iturrioz of Spain to the top of the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit this weekend following the Lacoste Ladies Open de France.

Esther required 14.29 points, or a 21st place finish, to overtake Nuria in the 29th edition of the French National Open being played at the Golf du Médoc Resort, near Bordeaux and finished in a tie for 12th place.

Speaking before the final round, Henseleit said: “I hope that I can play well tomorrow and maybe if I do so, I have got the chance to get to the number one spot and lead the Order of Merit but, at the moment, that’s not the thing I am focusing on. Of course, it’s my goal for the last few tournaments – to do well and win the Order of Merit and also the Rookie of the Year. It would be great to do that in my first year.”

The 20-year-old resident of Neidersachsen turned professional at the beginning of this year and has enjoyed an immensely successful rookie season until now.

She has managed to finish inside the top-ten seven times in her first 10 professional starts which included three runner-up finishes and a third-place.
