DEFENDING CHAMPION FÖRSTERLING EXCITED FOR THE CHALLENGE AT GREEN EAGLE

Alexandra Försterling

Last year Alexandra Försterling had the week of her dreams as she secured victory at the Amundi German Masters on home soil.

The Berlin native defeated best friend Emma Spitz of Austria in a dramatic playoff at Golf & Country Club Seddiner See to clinch her fourth Ladies European Tour (LET) title.

Försterling has fond memories of the tournament, which happened just outside of Berlin, and thinks about it often.

“I actually think about the win last year a lot, not just when I’m here now during the tournament,” she said.

“I think about that victory because it was such a great week, and I will always remember it. Now that, we’re here doing the same again but just in Hamburg – it’s really nice!

“It’s nice to play at home, even though it’s a little further this time, but it’s still a fairly short drive. My family and friends can come out to watch me, so I’m really excited.”

The 2025 Amundi German Masters is taking place at a new venue this year with the North Course at the Green Eagle Golf Courses hosting.

A field of 132 players will be tackling the course, which is known as the ‘Green Monster’ and hosted the DP World Tour between 2017 and 2024, will provide a test to the LET players.

She continued: “It’s probably going to be pretty tough on the golf course with the wind. It’s already a challenging golf course, so to add the wind on top will be quite difficult. I’m excited to see it, and I’m really excited for the challenge.”

The four-time LET winner has played in six LET events in 2025 missing the cut on three occasions and with a best finish of T38 at the Dutch Ladies Open.

The 25-year-old has been battling some injury woes this year, but is still hoping to have a fun week in Hamburg.

“I have been struggling a bit this season with a couple of body parts and with my back as well,” she added.

“I couldn’t really practice much, so I’ve been missing out on the preparation before a tournament. Despite that, I’m always just trying to give my best and do as much as I can and have fun.”

Försterling will begin her title defence at 1.03 pm (local time) on Thursday alongside Slovenia’s Pia Babnik and Spain’s Nuria Iturrioz at Green Eagle.
