(Royal Porthcawl, August 14 2004) Sunday’s final round of the £350,000 Wales ‘Golf as it should be’ Ladies Open will be a clash of the Titans as Helen Alfredsson of Sweden and England’s Laura Davies share the lead on 11-under par after 54 holes to make a mouth watering proposition for golf fans beside Rest Bay.

Davies, winner of 66 titles around the world will be looking to add to her CV and suggested that she will need to shoot low to snare her second win of the season after winning the AAMI Women’s Australian Open in March.
“It’s going to be good tomorrow,” said Davies. “Alfie is the kind of player who doesn’t back down when she’s up there, so I think I’ll need to shoot five or six under to win.
“I played steady today and unlike yesterday, it was more of a pleasure and not a job again. I saw Alfie up there with the record and that kind of focussed my mind out there and gave me something to aim at.
“I wanted to be within one or two shots at the end of the day and it’s all I can ask for to give myself a chance of another win heading into Sunday.”
