Ladies European Tour (LET) rookie Celina Sattelkau has been named a GEO Foundation Sustainable Golf Champion, joining a growing group of elite golfers committed to using their platform to promote environmental and social responsibility, both on and off the course.
The German star will play a key role in the Sustainable Golf Champion program and LET’s Sustainability Initiative (LETSI), building on her impressive track record of driving positive change through community engagement.
Off the golf course, Sattelkau has spearheaded research and projects tackling pressing global challenges such as food insecurity, transportation systems, green bonds, recycling practices, and the value of nature in businesses.
Through the Sustainable Golf Champion program – developed and led by the international non-profit GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf in partnership with the LET – the 24-year-old is set to leverage her platform to help raise awareness, educate, and inspire fans and followers.
She joins Czechia’s Sara Kouskova, France’s Camille Chevalier, Mexico’s Maria Fassi, Australia’s Katherine Kirk, and Norway’s Suzann Pettersen, who have all been part of the program to promote positive change.
Speaking about the new role, she said: “I’m really excited to join the group of Sustainable Champions, and to be able to foster sustainable development on the LET, and in sports in general. I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together, the good impact we can have and the initiatives that are going to come in the following years. There’s no better way to cap off my rookie season than becoming a Sustainable Champion and being an advocate for sustainability.
“The more people we have working together, the more we can achieve. I’m so grateful for the opportunity with the GEO Foundation, and that the LET is supporting sustainability in such a big way. Let’s see what we can achieve together.”

As part of her new role, Sattelkau has chosen to support the 225 MW Wind Power Project in Rajasthan, India, certified by the Gold Standard. The project delivers clean, renewable electricity to the Indian grid while creating local employment opportunities and supporting community development initiatives.
Sattelkau selected this project due its strong link with the Hero Women’s Indian Open, and its combination of renewable energy generation and social progress, aligning perfectly with her belief that environmental action should also uplift local communities.

Sattelkau recently graduated with honors from Vanderbilt University’s Owen Graduate School of Management, earning a Master of Science in Finance. This advanced degree has equipped her with the technical skills necessary to address climate change at a strategic level. Prior to this, she completed her undergraduate studies at Vanderbilt with double majors in Communication of Science and Technology and Psychology, along with a minor in Environment and Sustainability Studies. Last year, Celina won the prestigious Dinah Shore Trophy Award recognising her academic excellence alongside being one of the best female collegiate golfers, as well as outstanding leadership skills and commitment to community service.
As an advocate for climate justice, the German is passionate about leveraging her interdisciplinary education to develop sustainable solutions and combat climate change. While her primary goal is to play professional golf, she is eager to connect with individuals who share her dedication to addressing climate change and exploring innovative solutions.
In her rookie season on the LET, Sattelkau has played in 11 LET events making the cut in eight of them and last month, she achieved her best result on the LET to date claiming a share of seventh place at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open.
The Sustainable Golf Champion program was developed by the Foundation in conjunction with leading players and Tours over recent years. It enables players to credibly mitigate the impacts of their unavoidable travel, through climate investments with the Foundation’s partners at The Gold Standard; learn more about key sustainability priorities; and hone their advocacy and calls to action for different audiences.
