CAUDAL KEEPING CALM AND TAKING IT ONE DAY AT A TIME

Anne-Lise Caudal

It’s an important week in Spain for Anne-Lise Caudal as she looks to secure her full LET card for the 2024 season.

The Frenchwoman currently sits in 71st place in the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol with the top 70 securing their cards for next season.

Caudal was an invite to the event, which normally would mean she doesn’t get any RTCDS points, however, because by the time the tournament started, she would have qualified via the OOM Exemption after being on the reserve list, she will receive points.

And with that in mind, the two-time LET winner is hoping to make this week count at the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España.

“I don’t know exactly where I need to finish,” she said. “I’m not calculating but I know I need to play well.

“My goal is always to be up there and that’s what I’m trying. I’m just focusing on shot after shot and not trying to think about the result and I think it will work out nicely.”

After an opening round of 70 (-2) followed by a second round of 67 (-5), Caudal has put herself in a good position heading into the weekend at Real Club de Golf Las Brisas.

“It’s been really good,” she explained. “Yesterday was very tough the conditions were very windy. I didn’t hit the ball very well.

“It was a good fight to shoot two-under and today, it was less windy and my game was much better. I was five-under after nine and I had some opportunities on the back nine, I didn’t make it but I’m very happy.

“I have been playing quite well and hitting the ball well. There is one day always that is a bit more difficult, but I’m going to try to do the same and just patient. I have a goal to make six birdies a day. I’m trying to do that every day and if I do it, I know the score is going to be good, so I’m just focussing on that.”

It’s an exciting time for Caudal with the end of the season on the horizon and the small matter of planning a wedding.

The Frenchwoman and South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace will get married in February next year and will be taking some time to sort out the finer details in the coming weeks.

“It’s a lot of stress,” she added. “Every day there is a new thing, but luckily, we can talk about everything and put that on the side when we’re on the golf course, but we are very excited about it, and we can’t wait for Sunday to be the end of the year.”
