Virginia Elena Carta

Virginia Elena Carta was a panellist in the environmental Change with Conversation panel held at the Aramco Team Series presented by PIF – London.

The topic of the panel, which was held on Thursday July 4, was “Green on and off the green: Advancing environmental sustainability in sport”.

The LET is committed to recognising and promoting great sustainable work being done by the LET community as part of the Tour’s initiative LET Celebrating the Green presented by Dow in partnership with GEO Foundation for Sustainable Golf.

It is a topic that Italian player Carta knows a lot about having graduated from Duke in Environmental Sciences.

She also has a Masters degree in Environmental Policy from the University of Cambridge and has worked as a Sustainability Consultant.

Nicola Hume moderated the panel, which was made up of: LET player Carta, Owen James, who is Sustainability Manager of England Golf, Katie Neck, founder and managing director of Sustained Futures, and Julia Pallé, VP Sustainability at Formula E.

The aim of the panel was to raise awareness of environmental sustainability in the sports industry, showcase best practices, identify challenges, promote innovation, highlight the role of golf, inspire action and monitor and measure impact.

Carta spoke about her experiences as a golfer playing on Tour, the innovative practices that she has seen happening within the golf community and what challenges there are in advocating and implementing more sustainable practices.

This was one of three panels to take place across the week of the Aramco Team Series – London which is being held from July 3-5 at Centurion Club.
