Amundi, U.COM Event, the “Deutsche Golf Verband” (DGV – the German Golf Association) and the “Vereinigung clubfreier Golfspieler” (VcG – German Association of Independent Golfers) are delighted to be able to bring a top-class women’s tournament back to Germany with the Amundi German Masters.

Organised by U.COM Event and with the help of the leading asset manager Amundi Asset Management as the title sponsor, the Ladies European Tour (LET) will assemble the elite of women’s golf in Germany from 30 June to 3 July. VcG has additionally been attracted to act as the Presenting Partner. The DGV is accompanying the event in everything connected with the golfing side of the tournament and in communicating it. Prize money will total 300,000 euro. The venue will be announced in the near future.

By cooperating together, the organiser U.COM Event and the title sponsor Amundi guarantee an excellently run tournament. U.COM Event already successfully staged the Magical Ladies Kenya Open on the LET and the DP World Tour’s Porsche European Open in Hamburg. Amundi is also intensifying its involvement in women’s golf with the Amundi German Masters. Since last year, the asset manager has been the title-sponsor of The Amundi Evian Championship, the only women’s golf major in continental Europe. The partnership for the Amundi German Masters with U.COM Event will run for at least three years to establish the tournament as one of Europe’s top events.

The 2016 Ladies European Masters was the last time a top-quality women’s field was presented on German soil. Since then, German female pros have produced many successful performances to make their mark on the world’s second biggest women’s tour and elite international golf generally. German golfers have managed to rank eight times alone in the Race to Costa del Sol Top 10, the LET order of merit. Esther Henseleit triumphed at the LET season opener, the Magical Kenya Ladies Open. The chance to also showcase their skills on home soil remained impossible for the outstanding women golfers for a long time. The Amundi German Masters now offers women’s golf a fitting stage for professionals in Germany.

Tournament director Dirk Glittenberg: “Heartfelt wish“

“Having cooperated for a very long time with the Ladies European Tour, we at U.COM Event have always had the heartfelt wish to attract the best women golfers back to Germany,” says Dirk Glittenberg, the U.COM Event managing director. “After three years of intensive planning, the day has now finally come. It makes us unbelievably happy to have found a partner in Amundi and be again able to offer the talented German women golfers a chance to play in their home country. Women’s golf lies in U.COM’s DNA and it’s high time that Germany got a women’s tournament alongside the three men’s pro events. “

Christian Pellis, CEO Amundi Deutschland: “Diversity as an asset”

“Equal opportunity is one of Amundi’s basic principles and we view diversity – in all its facets – as a real asset for society and the company. Through our involvement in the Amundi German Masters, we are delighted to make women’s golf more visible in Germany and give all the participants the chance to show their skills and progress in the game of golf,” says Christian Pellis, CEO Amundi Deutschland. Alongside its sponsoring activities in golf, Amundi last year launched the Amundi Women Talent Program whereby five European players – including Karolin Lampert – are supported over a period of two years. The Amundi Young Talent Program was also set up. It enables girls to discover the game of golf when taking up the invitation to enjoy a day on the golf course in Evian.

Wolfgang Weikert, VcG President: “Important sponsor“

“Having committed ourselves for our young up-and-coming players since 2021 with the return of the Challenge Tour to Germany, it was only natural we extended our sponsoring activities to the women’s game,” says Wolfgang Weikert, the VcG President. “We’re delighted to have been given an opportunity so quickly with the Amundi German Masters and to thus play a significant part in ensuring the staging of a first-class women’s golf tournament in the next three years. We can once more live up to our role as an important sponsor of golf in Germany.”

Achim Battermann, Deputy DGV President: “Logical consequence“

“As the governing body for golf in Germany, we’re extremely pleased that the LET is returning to Germany after a long absence. Since, at the very latest, Esther Henseleit’s successful title defence at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, it has become clear that German players are making their mark on the Ladies European Tour. For this reason, giving the athletes the chance to play a tournament in front of a home crowd is the logical consequence. The DGV also sees it as its duty to give professional women’s golf in Germany the standing it deserves – with the Tour stopover in Germany and free live transmission of all LET tournaments on the newly launched www.golf.de website,” explains Achim Battermann, Deputy President of the Deutsche Golf Verband (DGV).

LET CEO Alexandra Armas: “Valuable additional playing opportunities“

“We are thrilled to be returning to Germany for the Amundi German Masters. We are so appreciative that Amundi is extending its long-term commitment to women’s sport and supporting the development of female golfers in Europe, as we share the same values when it comes to promoting diversity and equality. This new tournament will be a valuable additional playing opportunity for our LET members. Following on from some great performances by our German professionals in recent years, it will be a special week for them, being able to play in front of their home crowd.”

Karo Lampert: “A season highlight“

“I’m so pleased at once again having the opportunity to play a tournament in Germany and hopefully also to be welcoming, alongside family and friends, lots of German fans,” says the top German golfer Karo Lampert. “In my mind, the event in Germany has big added value for the Ladies European Tour and the 2022 tournament schedule. The game of golf in Germany will profit from it at the same time. As a brand ambassador for Amundi, participating in the Amundi German Masters is sure to be one of my personal highlights in the 2022 season.”
