LET and the European Week of Sport

Throughout the season, the Ladies European Tour has been supporting the #BeActive campaign and the European Week of Sport that starts today, Saturday September 10 and runs until Sunday, September 18. The campaign was initiated by the European Commission to promote sport and physical activity across Europe as it will positively affect society and the community as a whole.

Mike Round, LET Director of Membership and Development, said: “Our members are role models to many people around the world and make a large impact in the countries and events where the LET plays tournaments. Most of our members are involved in a number of other sports besides golf and use exercise and training to keep fit and focused. For us, it is important to highlight the importance and benefits of sport to get more people involved and become active therefore we encourage everyone to support the European Week of Sport.”

The LET Ambassadors for the campaign are Sophie Sandolo, Christine Wolf, Fabienne in-Albon, Rosie Davies and Camilla Lennarth, who are all at the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters at Golf Club Hubbelrath. They agree that keeping active and exercising through other sports has helped them to improve their focus and achieve their goals.

Camilla Lennarth said: “I played many sports when I was younger and it created friendships that I still have today. Sport not only keeps me fit, but I feel full of confidence and energy. It also helps to keep injuries at bay and I hope that being part of this campaign can give more awareness of sport and make a difference to young players, especially girls, who will get to feel and understand the joy of sport and how many benefits participation brings.”
