Rookie Ras-Andérica feels at home

The LET’s newest German member is 22-year-old rookie professional Leticia Ras-Andérica. Born and raised in Valencia, Spain, she recently switched nationality ahead of the Lalla Meryem Cup in Morocco to represent Germany and is playing in the ISPS HANDA Ladies European Masters on adopted home soil.

Leticia: why did you recently choose to represent Germany?

I’ve always had a German passport but I used to play for Spain because I’ve lived there all my life and when I was 17 I went to college in America and I didn’t have a Spanish passport. I just recently got my Spanish one, but I feel more German than anything. My mum’s German, my grandma’s German and at home we always speak German and watch German TV. Even though I’ve lived in Spain most of my life, I feel German.

Tell us about your rookie season so far…

This is my fourth event. I’m hoping to do well to get my ranking up and keep my card this year.  I’m also playing on the China LPGA Tour and there are some tournaments that are co-sanctioned so hopefully I’ll get some starts. This is a big tournament so if I can make the cut that will be a big help. I’m taking it day by day to see what happens.

What do you consider the highlight of your career to date?

The biggest highlight was my first professional tournament, the DISA Campeonato de España Profesional Femenino at Abama Golf in Tenerife, exactly a year ago today. I turned pro and was leading the first two days but then I kind of messed it up. This year, my best finish so far from three starts on the LET is tied 39th in the Tipsport Golf Masters in Pilsen.
