To mark the occasion of just 50 days to go until the 2016 Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, Brazilian Ladies European Tour star Victoria Lovelady wrote and performed a very special song, titled Road to Rio.
After a 116 year absence for women’s golf competing at the Olympic Games, it will be a landmark occasion when the female tournament tees off on August 17. Players will compete at the Reserva De Marapendi Golf Course, in Rio De Janeiro, as they target lifting a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal for their home country.
Speaking from the Tipsport Golf Masters in the Czech Republic, Victoria commented: “The Olympic Games inspires me and I usually write songs about things that inspire me and strong emotions. I think it’s a very special thing that golf is coming back after more than 100 years and it deserved a song. The Olympic Games is the greatest sporting show on earth and we cannot wait for it to begin!”
