NSW amateurs play with top pros

NSW’s highest ranked female amateur player will get an up-close look at professional golf at the highest level when the Pacific Bay Resort Australian Ladies Classic – Bonville tees off Thursday.

Avondale Golf Club’s Grace Kim will play the first two rounds at Bonville Golf Resort alongside fellow Australian Hannah Green and Dutch sensation Anne Van Dam.

Kim, winner of the Gold Medal at the Youth Olympics in 2018, said she was both excited and nervous to be paired with two of the tournament’s biggest drawcards hitting off the ninth tee at 7.20am Thursday.

“I played a practise round with Hannah at the Vic Open two weeks ago, so I sort of know how she plays, but I’ve never seen Anne play in person,” she said.

“But I follow her on Instagram, and I know a lot of people say she has the best golf swing in the world and I think I agree.

“The video she put out a few weeks ago that went viral was just amazing. I’ve saved it on my phone!”

Fellow NSW Interstate Team member Stephanie Kyriacou will also get a taste of the game at the elite level when she partners Madelene Sagstrom and Rebecca Artis in the next group off the tee.

Other marquee groupings include Laura Davies, Ashleigh Buhai and Sarah Kemp off the ninth at 7.10am and Beth Allen, Meghan MacLaren and Victorian amateur star Stephanie Bunque among the afternoon players at 12.30, also off the ninth tee.
