LET Order of Merit leader Gwladys Nocera, who goes into this week’s ANA Inspiration in second position on the European Solheim Cup Team Rankings, after last week’s Lalla Meryem Cup victory in Morocco.
The first major championship of the 2015 season gets under way this week at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, where American Lexi Thompson is defending the title she won at the same venue last year.
We could see some massive changes to the composition of the European Solheim Cup team on Sunday, as double the number of points are awarded at majors compared to other LET tournaments. Points are also earned for top 20 finishes, as opposed to the top 10.
The five women’s majors in 2015 are the ANA Inspiration (April 2-5), KPMG Women’s PGA Championship (June 11-14), U.S. Women’s Open Conducted by the USGA (July 9-12), RICOH Women’s British Open (July 30-August 2) and The Evian Championship (September 10-13), which takes place the week before The 2015 Solheim Cup at Golf Club St. Leon-Rot in Germany, on September 18-20.
