3 Reasons to Follow the World Ladies Championship

The World Ladies Championship starts at Mission Hills on Thursday, 12 March.  What makes the tournament special?

Here are three reasons to follow the action:

1 – Unique 3 in 1 Tournament

This tournament is unique in professional golf in that it comprises three events in one – an individual professional competition, a team championship in which countries are represented by teams of two, and an individual amateur tournament.

From the world’s top players to the emerging stars of the Mission Hills Junior programmes, it is designed to showcase women’s golf to the world.

2 – World Class Players

Among the leading players taking part this week are the defending champion and world No.2 Inbee Park from South Korea, the 2013 champion and world No.5 Suzann Pettersen and world No.8 So Yeon Ryu as well as China’s No.2 Xi Yu Lin.  With such big names in action, the play is certain to be competitive from the very first tee-off.

The amateurs include China’s Dan Ting Cai, Qi Tian, Chiang Sui and Lei Yi and Chantelle Cassidy from New Zealand.

3 – The World’s Largest Spa

The five-star Mission Hills Resort Haikou is an integrated leisure resort and is the only golf facility in China constructed on beds of volcanic rock. It offers an array of spa, mineral springs, sports, recreation, entertainment, shopping and dining facilities to meet the needs of the most discerning traveller.

In 2012, it was formally accredited as the World’s Largest Spa by the Guinness World Records. The fourth edition of the tournament will be played on the resort’s signature par-73 Blackstone Course, surrounded by beautiful lush vegetation and black lava rock.
