TOUGH TEST AWAITS AS LET HEADS TO DELHI FOR HERO WOMEN’S INDIAN OPEN

Following a short break the Ladies European Tour (LET) is in South Asia this week for the 18th staging of the Hero Women’s Indian Open.

The magnificent DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurugram, New Delhi will play host for the 16th time and ninth edition in a row. Consistently ranked as one of the best venues in India, the Gary Player designed par-72 championship course provides a tough test featuring picturesque elevation and several water hazards.

A field of 114 players from 31 nations will compete for the trophy in the 25th event of the 2026 season. This number features 34 members of the Women’s Golf Association of India (WGAI) in the co-sanctioned event.

The players will be battling it out for a prize fund of US$500,000 when play gets under way on Thursday 22 October in the 72-hole competition.

Singapore’s Shannon Tan was victorious last time out when she pipped close friend Alice Hewson to the title with a one-shot victory. The Order of Merit winner is back in India to defend her crown as she goes in pursuit of a fourth LET title. The Singaporean is in fine form having won Bronze at the Asian Games a few weeks ago. She sits seventh on the 2026 LET Order of Merit.

Tan is joined by fellow past champions Liz Young (2024) from England, Camille Chevalier (2017) from France and Pornanong Phatlum (2008, 2009, 2012) from Thailand. LPGA star Phatlum tees up as one of 10 invites.

A total of 30 Indian players will be looking to make their mark in front of the home fans including Asian Games Gold Medallist Pranavi Urs and two-time LET winner Diksha Dagar. Urs made history in Japan a few weeks ago becoming the first Indian woman to win an Asian Games gold medal in golf. The 23-year-old also won Silver in the team competition alongside Dagar and Aditi Ashok – the only Indian to win the Hero Women’s Indian Open.

Urs and Dagar are joined by local stars Vani Kapoor, Tvesa Malik and Hitaashee Bakshi in the field. The latter was the best placed Indian in 2025 finishing solo third at her native DLF Golf & Country Club. Another notable home talent in the field is Gaurika Bishnoi, the wife of Major winner Aaron Rai. Bishnoi is an invite this week and finished T7 at the 2023 edition. All of the above will be aiming to follow in the footsteps of Ashok who lifted the trophy on home soil in 2016.

Elsewhere in the field, Czech Republic’s Sara Kouskova will be teeing up looking to continue her excellent form. The Olympian finished runner-up at the Aramco Korea Champion two weeks ago matching the course record 63 (-9) on the final day as Miyu Yamashita claimed victory. At World No 94, Kouskova is the highest ranked player competing at DLF Golf & Country Club.

Another in-form player to keep an eye on in Delhi is USA’s Anna Morgan. The Q-School graduate has finished T5 and T2 in her last two outings at the Aramco Korea Championship and Buccellati Ladies Italian Open. She currently leads the 2026 Rookie of the the Year standings.

The 2024 Order of Merit winner, Chiara Tamburlini from Switzerland, also makes her return to LET action. Click here for the full field.
