Christine Wolf stands as a popular figure on site at this week’s VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open as the Austrian makes her Ladies European Tour (LET) return 15 months on from becoming a mother.
The two-time Olympian last featured at the Aramco Team Series – Riyadh in October 2024 before giving birth to a baby girl, Mia, in May 2025.
“I had a little girl, Mia, 15 months ago and I’m just enjoying motherhood now,” Wolf said. “She’s really good. She’s out here watching me this week. She’s really easygoing and I’m just enjoying my time with her.
“Everyone’s been very welcoming and said hello. It’s been so nice catching up with everyone. Being back out here, it feels like coming home.”
Wolf, now 37-years-old, will be making her 180th appearance on the LET at Golfpark Holzhäusern this week. The Austrian, whose sole victory on the LET came in 2019 at the Hero Women’s Indian Open, has made five appearances at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open finishing T15 in 2022.
Having not tee’d up for almost two years on the circuit, Wolf, an invite this week, will be aiming to enjoy herself as she plays alongside close friend Liz Young from England, a past champion of this event in 2022, and India’s Pranavi Urs in rounds one and two.
“I have no expectations,” Wolf said. “I’m just trying to enjoy it being out here. It’s not far from home and I’ve been here a lot of times – outside of when we’ve had the tournament too. So I feel very very at home.
“It’s not easy practicing and having a kid at home. It’s definitely a new perspective. I’ve played a couple of times recently. Practiced a lot more the last weeks since I knew I would be playing here.”
This season has seen several mums return to action on the LET with the likes of Georgia Hall, Anne van Dam and Sophia Popov all teeing up shortly after giving birth.
Back in June, Finland’s Noora Komulainen claimed victory at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open with her five-year old daughter Elli in attendance.
“I loved watching Noora win,” Wolf said. “I think when you have your own kid, you cheer on the other mums even more so. I was very happy for Noora when she won.”
