FIVE TALKING POINTS AHEAD OF THE HULENCOURT WOMEN’S OPEN

The Ladies European Tour (LET) is back in Belgium this week as 132 players from 40 different nations tee up in the second edition of the Hulencourt Women’s Open. The 72-hole tournament, staged 30 minutes from Brussels, marks the 15th stop and midway point of the 2026 season.

Before play gets underway at Hulencourt Golf Club on Thursday 2 July, here are five talking points to keep an eye on in Belgium…

Darcey defends

For only the fourth time this season on the LET the 2025 champion is back in town to defend her title with Wales’ Darcey Harry teeing up at Hulencourt Golf Club. The now 23-year-old secured a three-shot victory last time out to claim her maiden victory on the circuit – a win which qualified her for a “dream” appearance at the AIG Women’s Open at her home club Royal Porthcawl.

Harry, now in her second year on the LET, was aided by boyfriend and DP World Tour player Jacob Skov Olesen on the bag in 2025 as she carded a final round 68 (-4) to claim the inaugural edition of the competition with a winning score of 13-under par.

As for this season on the LET, the Welshwoman sits 62nd on the Order of Merit having competed in 13 events. Her best finish came in Adelaide at the Women’s Australian Open where she placed T7. Harry missed the cut as last week’s Tipsport Czech Ladies Open so will be hoping fond memories from last year’s victory can spring her back into form.

Georgia’s comeback continues

After giving birth to a baby boy earlier this year, Major winner Georgia Hall continues her comeback this week teeing up in her third event since becoming a mother.

The Solheim Cup star made her comeback at the Jabra Ladies Open de France just three months on from giving birth making the cut before finishing T28. A few weeks later Hall would tee up at the Dutch Ladies Open making the cut once again before placing T44. Hall is using these European events as preparation for next month’s AIG Women’s Open where she will tee up at Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club, the setting of her Major breakthrough in 2017.

Hall is one of three LET Order of Merit winners in the field in Belgium having won the season-long race in both 2017 and 2018. Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab (2023) and Singapore’s Shannon Tan (2025) are the other two with Hall playing alongside Tan, her biggest fan, in rounds one and two.

Major prep

As well as prepping towards the AIG Women’s Open, several stars in the field will also be using the Hulencourt Women’s Open as fine tuning for next week’s Amundi Evian Championship – the fourth Major of the season in which takes place at Evian Resort Golf Club in France between 9-12 July.

A strong group of LET players competing next week are in the field in Belgium: Tan, English duo Cara Gainer and Alice Hewson, Australia’s Kelsey Bennett, Sweden’s Kajsa Arwefjall and India’s Aditi Ashok.

Aditi back in action

Talking of Ashok, the Indian fan favourite returns to LET action this week competing in Belgium for the first time in her career. Ashok is a five-time winner on the LET having last claimed victory at the 2023 Open de Espana.

The 28-year-old Olympian has been competing on the LPGA this season but has opted to return to LET as preparation for next week’s Amundi Evian Championship. Ashok has competed in nine events this year on the LPGA making six cuts and securing one top-10. She is currently 138th in the Rolex Rankings.

Awesome amateurs

No fewer than five amateurs will be competing in Belgium this week with two names in particular ones to keep an eye on.

With Manon De Roey not present at Hulencourt Golf Club, Savannah De Bock carries her nation’s biggest hopes as she tees up as one of four Belgians in the field. De Bock is a two-time winner of the PING Junior Solheim Cup and has enjoyed a prolific amateur career winning the 2022 European Ladies Amateur and making it to the semi finals at The Women’s Amateur Championship last week at Muirfield. De Bock finished T24 at the Belgian Ladies Open – the precursor to this event – in 2023 and currently studies at Eastern Michigan University.

Alongside De Bock, South Korea’s Soomin Oh is well in the conversation when it comes to players capable of claiming victory this week. Oh is currently ranked ninth in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and finished runner-up on the LET earlier this year at the Ford Women’s NSW Open. At just 17-years-old, Oh has an extremely bright future ahead and is certainly one to watch this week in Belgium.
