KOUSKOVA EMBRACING THE PRESSURE AT TIPSPORT CZECH LADIES OPEN

No fewer than 11 Czech players will tee up at this week’s Tipsport Czech Ladies Open with two-time Ladies European Tour (LET) winner Sara Kouskova leading the charge as her nation’s highest ranked hope to claim the title.

It’s been a memorable rise for Kouskova, now 26-years-old, over the past two seasons as went from prospect to Olympian to LET champion competing at the Paris Games before winning back-to-back titles at the Jabra Ladies Open and Tenerife Women’s Open.

In the process, Kouskova joined compatriots Klara Davidson Spilkova and Jana Melichova as the only Czech players to win twice on the LET – an honour which places her as the headline star once again heading this week’s tournament at Royal Beroun Golf Club.

With Davidson Spilkova absent this week, it is an honour which Kouskova is embracing every step of the way as she looks to follow in Melichova’s footsteps and become the second Czech player to win the event on home soil.

“It’s both a pressure and a privilege to play at home,” Kouskova said, ranked 191st in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings. “But it’s great to see how each year more people are coming. They love to support the Czech girls and we always seem to have big groups following us. It’s just so great to be able to feed off the energy of the people around you. It’s always a special week for us.”

Kouskova has competed at every edition of the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open since it first took place in 2019. Her best finishes came in 2022 and 2025 where she placed T13 on both occasions.

With low scores always a given at Royal Beroun Golf Club, the Olympian is expecting an enjoyable challenge once again at her native open.

“I’m loving the conditions this year,” Kouskova said. “It’s been a tough winter in Czechia so it’s great to see the course recover so quickly after some of the rain we had had here. The greens are looking great. I’m very grateful of the jobs the greenskeepers did. It’s Beroun, anything can happen. It’s very fun to play but every hole is different. If you’re sharp with your wedges and can sink some putts you’ll do very well.”

As for form, Kouskova sits 44th in the Order of Merit boosted by two top-10s in her last three outings at the Amundi German Masters and Lalla Meryem Cup.

“I’m very happy with the last few weeks,” the 26-year-old said. “I think the start of the season was a little slow in terms of the results. I had to revaluate some things that weren’t happening so well on the course, but now I’m really happy with how the things I changed have translated into good results. Two top-10s under the belt this early in the season is really nice. Hopefully more to come.”

Home favourite Sara Kouskova gets underway at the 2026 Tipsport Czech Ladies Open on Friday at 13:14 playing alongside last year’s runner-up, Esme Hamilton from England, and last week’s winner, Aunchisa Utama from Thailand. The full draw for the 54-hole event can be found here.
