Home star Alexandra Försterling fired a round of 69 (-4) to go into the final day of the 2026 Amundi German Masters with a two-shot lead.
It was a day of mixed weather on the North Course at Green Eagle Golf Courses just south of Hamburg, which included a brief stoppage due to a hailstorm, and plenty of twists and turns on the golf course.
Försterling began the day in a share of third place and had a slow start to the round with all pars and just one bogey on her first seven holes, but she soon found momentum with her first birdie of the day on the eighth.
The four-time LET winner then rolled in four birdies in a row on holes 12 to 15 to climb to the top of the leaderboard with a total of 10-under-par
“I’m really happy and I’m playing really solid. I’m just overall really happy about the performance,” said Försterling. “I started to hit it closer to the pin and then the putts started to roll in.
“The birdie on 14 was huge, I don’t know how I kept it going. It was pretty extreme weather, it was actually hailing at some point and I didn’t expect that. That’s why play got suspended for a little bit, but we all managed to get around okay even with the little break.
“I’m not making mistakes and overall, it’s been really steady. The long game has been steady, and putts are rolling in sometimes – not all the time. I’ve been consistent the whole season so far, I’m really happy about that.”
Försterling is in search of her fifth LET title and second on home soil, having won her last LET title at the 2024 Amundi German Masters.
She added: “It would mean a lot especially after last year and struggling mentally and with injuries. It wasn’t easy. I was hoping that I was going to be in contention again. I’m actually really pleased that I am and I’ll just try to keep it going as best as I can and don’t try to drive myself crazy and just enjoy it.”
Germany’s Chiara Noja and Czechia’s Sara Kouskova are in a share of second place on the leaderboard on eight-under-par.
LET winner Noja carded a round of 71 (-2), which included five birdies and three bogeys to be two shots back at the 54-hole mark.
“The weather was a little crazy today. On 11, the green was covered in hail, so we were all concerned there for a minute,” said Noja. “It was a tough day today, the pins were a little tricky and it was a little firmer. It was steady golf for the most and I kept focused on what I was trying to do.
“I’m chilling. I have no expectations. To be honest with you I was very relaxed today because I knew I had nothing to lose. If I approach every shot and just know that I’m 100% committed to that show and I’m picturing what I want to do, then everything else that happens is out of my control. 100% on every shot and that’s it.”
Two-time LET winner Kouskova remained in contention at the top of the leaderboard after a solid day with just one bogey and one birdie on her scorecard.
“I’m very happy with today, it was steady. There weren’t that many mistakes, only a couple of slightly not hit well shots,” said Kouskova. “It could have been a good round, the flatstick just needed to work a little better.
“Overall, I’m happy with how it was today. It was important to stay in the position and stay in the process. I’m very happy that finally I could keep myself in place with the right mindset to do that.
“I really enjoyed this golf course and when I was looking through the yardage book this morning with the wind direction, I said I was going to do my shots here and see what’s going to happen. Honestly, I expected the weather to be much worse, so it was fine and just about being in the correct spot.”
Canada’s Anna Huang and Germany’s Leonie Harm are in a tie for fourth place another two shots further back on six-under-par.
The teenage sensation began with a birdie at the first and made another on the fourth before a double bogey on five and a bogey on six.
However, she soon bounced back with birdies on seven and 13, another dropped shot on 14 followed but she finished in style with four birdies on the trot to seal a round of 69 (-4).
“I started pretty strong with two birdies and then I struggled a little bit in the middle, but I was able to pull myself back together especially on the last four holes,” said Huang.
“I don’t know how I made four birdies in a row because on 17, it started hailing. It was only 136 yards, but I had a 6-iron and hit it to 30-feet and then made that. I also made the birdie on the last, so it was a really good finish and I’m really happy with how everything went.
“With the weather, this course is always hard. It’s playing really long. The greens are really tricky and overall, this course is really tough for us. I think I play better when the weather is worse here because I shot four-under in the last round last year here. Maybe it’s the weather.”
Denmark’s Sofie Kibsgaard is in a share of seventh place on five-under alongside Germany’s Esther Henseleit. Thailand’s Aunchisa Utama and England’s Esme Hamilton are one shot further back with six players in T10 on -3.
The final round will begin at 7.45 am (local time) with the leaders teeing off at 11.48 am on the North Course at Green Eagle Golf Courses.
