It has been an Aussie trip to cherish for Agathe Laisne on the Ladies European Tour (LET) with the Frenchwoman picking up one victory and one runner-up finish Down Under.
Laisne won the opening event in Australia going 11-under par over the weekend to claim the Ford Women’s NSW Open by a single shot.
Two weeks later, the Frenchwoman nearly earned a famous second taking Major winner Hannah Green right to the wire to finish T2 at the Women’s Australian Open.
It is a hot run of form which now sees the 26-year-old lead the LET Order of Merit heading into this week’s final event of the Aussie swing, the Australian WPGA Championship.
But despite the impressive start to the season, Laisne is continuing to remain grounded and not look too much into the season standings.
“It’s been great,” Laisne said, who leapfrogged Kelsey Bennett on the Order of Merit after Sunday. “I’ve been playing well and the putts have been dropping. My irons have been good too. I’m excited to play this last week and then go home. That will be nice.
“I don’t have any goals yet. I just try to play it shot by shot, tournament by tournament. We’ll see. I’m happy to be first in the Order of Merit but it’s not the end of the way if I’m not there. I’ll just try to play by best every week.”
Laisne now has four career victories to her name having won twice on the LET Access Series (LETAS) and once on the Epson Tour to go along with her win in Wollongong last month.
The Frenchwoman put on a highlight reel performance over the weekend in Adelaide losing out to winner Green by just one shot.
“I was a little disappointed,” Laisne said. “Because I bogeyed 17 [when tied for the lead]. But it was a tough pin so it’s okay. I’m glad I finished second and I’m looking forward to playing more tournaments [on the LET]. You always want to win, especially when you’re in contention.”
This week the Frenchwoman will tee up alongside LPGA star Green again as the LET and WPGA Tour of Australasia come together for the fourth and final co-sanctioned event of the month.
Sanctuary Cove Golf & Country Club in Queensland is on hosting duties with Laisne expecting a tough test for all.
“It’s a good course this week,” she said after playing a practice round on Tuesday. “You have to be precise off the tee and take the target lines. It’s a different grass [than the previous weeks]. Especially the greens, they’re a little slower. We’ll see if they speed up. I think it’s a strategist’s course.”
Laisne gets underway at the Australian WPGA Championship on Thursday at 11:30 local time playing alongside Darcey Harry from Wales and Anna Huang from Canada.
Fans around the world will be able to watch the weekend action via their national broadcaster on the LET website and YouTube channel. You can also keep up with the tournament on our socials – @LETgolf on Instagram and X and Ladies European Tour on Facebook and YouTube. #AusWPGA
