- U.S. Team to be named following 2026 CPKC Women’s Open
The LPGA announced today that the 2026 CPKC Women’s Open, to be held Aug. 20-23, will be the cutoff for selection of the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup Team. Angela Stanford, a six-time veteran of the American squad, will captain the top 12 American female golfers as they represent their country at Bernardus Golf in the Netherlands, from Sept. 11-13, 2026. She will be joined by Assistant Captains Kristy McPherson, Paula Creamer and Brittany Lang.
“I wanted as many opportunities as possible for the players to play their way onto the team and for me to watch them under that pressure. I also feel that it’s really important to see what people do after the fifth major, not just leading into the major,” said Stanford, who was named the 2026 captain in March 2025. “We have such a deep pool of players, and I think a lot of movement is going to happen during that last month. I want to see people fighting for those spots coming down the stretch. It’s going to be really exciting!”
Points are awarded to the top 40 participants at each Ranking Event, the tournaments that take place during the Qualifying Period as designated by the LPGA. Points are doubled at the five major championships. In the Solheim Cup year, all points values will increase by 50%.
The Qualifying Period for the 2026 U.S. Solheim Cup Team began with the 2024 FM Championship. At the end of the 2026 qualification period following the 2026 CPKC Women’s Open, the top seven players in the U.S. Solheim Cup points standings will be named to the team. They will be joined by the top two players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings not already qualified and three captain’s picks.
The U.S. Team won the 2024 Solheim Cup, with Stanford serving as an assistant captain under Stacy Lewis. Stanford’s team will aim to be the first American squad to win consecutive Solheim Cups since 2015 and 2017.
