Australia’s Kirsten Rudgeley is looking forward to being back at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France after finishing in second place in 2024.
The 24-year-old lost out in the playoff last year when she was beaten by Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini at Golf Barrière in Deauville.
Rudgeley returns in 2025 with good memories from the tournament and believes the wind will play its part.
“When I got here this week, I thought back about the fact I had a good chance of winning and it’s lovely,” said the Australian. “It’s a nice place, everything about it. Even when you go to the little town down there, it’s just really nice, and I do enjoy being here. Hopefully, we can do one better this year, but I’m looking forward to it.
“I think the course needs a little bit of wind, just to trip the course up a little bit more. It’s scheduled to be windy anyway. We will tee it up on the first day and then we’ll see what happens.”
The Australian heads into this week off the back of a T8 finish at the 2025 La Sella Open – her fourth top-10 of this season.
Rudgeley knows there are parts of her game she needs to work on, but is also looking forward to going back home to Australia after this week.
She explained: “I did enjoy last week in Spain. It was good fun and then this week, it’s amazing too. You just roll out of your bed and you’re on the tee box. Those things do help out, preparation-wise and I’ll get this week done, then I can fly home, which would be nice.
“Obviously, you have still got to work on things in your game. There are definitely some holes somewhere, but I just need to fill them in. Golf is golf, you’re going to have bits that are not going to work. I will just keep plodding away and we’ll see what happens.
“It’s been a long year, to be honest, and we’re not done yet. When you get to this point in the year, you think you’re nearly done. It’s a nice place to be and I’m looking forward to the week.”
Rudgeley will tee it up in the first round at 8.39 am (local time) alongside Germany’s Laura Fünfstück and Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini.
