PETTERSSON ENJOYING RETURN TO DORMY OPEN HELSINGBORG

Lisa Pettersson

Lisa Pettersson is back at Allerum Golf Club where she clinched her maiden LET title in 2023.

The Swedish star improved during every round in Helsingborg carding 70-68-67 for a winning total of 11-under-par.

In her final four holes in 2023, Pettersson rolled in back-to-back birdies on 15 and 16 before finishing in style with an eagle on 18 to secure victory.

And the 28-year-old is delighted to be back for the 2024 edition of the Dormy Open Helsingborg with her family alongside her.

“On one hand I feel like it was just yesterday and on the other, I feel like it was so far away and so long ago,” she said.

“It’s great being back here and having really good memories from last year. This year I have my whole family here which I didn’t last year, so it will be a really fun week and I’m sure I will be enjoying it on the course.

“Last year I only had my boyfriend on the bag and my whole family was quite disappointed they weren’t able to come down, so this year they said they have to in case I ended up repeating last year. It will be really fun, like a mini vacation with the family.”

Pettersson has had an up and down season so far with the high point being a top-10 finish at the Investec South African Women’s Open.

However, the Swede is not too concerned with her form as it was the same heading into this tournament last year.

She explained: “My game has been up and down, a bit of a slow start. I feel like I have good game, but I just haven’t been able to figure out all the pieces yet, but that’s kind of what it was last year.

“I came in with very low expectations and didn’t play very well before. I know that it can happen any time and you just have to be patient and let it all come together and let it happen. I feel like we’ll see, I’m not too worried about it. We’ll play it as it comes.

“I don’t feel like I’m coming in to defend anything. It’s a new year with new opportunities so I feel like I’m just going to take one swing at a time and enjoy it out there and just do my best and we’ll see how far it gets me.”

It is home week for many of the Swedes on Tour and Pettersson is one of 24 who will be teeing it up at Allerum Golf Club.

Receiving extra support from the crowd is always special and the East Carolina University graduate is happy there are so many home players getting the opportunity to play in an LET event.

She added: “It’s really fun. I think this tournament is important for Sweden and for the girls that are coming up and for them to get playing opportunities. It’s so fun that we have a home tournament and that we get crowds from home and a bit of extra support. It’s one of my favourite weeks.”

Pettersson will begin her title defence at 8.33 am (local time) on Friday alongside Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini and India’s Diksha Dagar.
