URIBE AND TEAM KANG THE SEOUL LEADERS IN KOREA AS PLAY IS SUSPENDED UNTIL SUNDAY

Play has been suspended for the day at Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF – Korea due to weather conditions with Colombia’s Mariajo Uribe sitting one shot clear on five-under par in Seoul. Team Kang hold the clubhouse lead on 23-under par in the Team event.

With the rain pouring down during round two at New Korea Country Club the horn sounded at 4:15pm on Saturday calling this afternoon’s players in.

A decision was later made to suspend the action for the remainder of the day. Competitors yet to finish their second rounds in both the Team and Individual competitions will now return to the course on Sunday morning at 6:45am to complete their cards. This applies to all of Saturday’s afternoon’s groups – 54 players and 18 Teams.

Uribe, winner of the NSW Women’s Open, has eight holes remaining in her second round. The Colombian started the day one shot behind home star Hoo-Jyo Kim but leapfrogged the Major winner after chipping in for eagle on the par-5 17th.

Denmark’s Nicole Broch Estrup and Germany’s Carolin Kauffmann hold the clubhouse lead on one-under par having completed their rounds on Saturday morning. World No 8 Charley Hull shares their score with nine holes remaining in round two.

Over in the Team competition, Danielle Kang’s squad of England’s Lily May Humphreys, China’s Tian Xiaolin and amateur Lee hold the clubhouse lead on 23-under par.

The Solheim Cup star’s team combined tremendously in the morning carding a round of 16-under par to move two shots clear of Team Gustavsson.

“I had some of the best teammates,” said Kang after her round. “I mean, we had spirit we had good play, and our amateur crushed it today.

“It’s just been a really good bonding experience, and all I cared about was just trying to win the team event this week. So, we’re here with a three-shot lead, and that’s really exciting.”

Team Uribe, still with eight holes to play, look like they will be Team Kang’s closest competitors when play resumes on Sunday morning. The squad of Uribe, Austria’s Christine Wolf, Spain’s Maria Hernandez and amateur Kim are currently five shots back on 18-under par. The full leaderboard can be found here.

Round two of Aramco Team Series – Korea continues tomorrow morning at 6:45am local time. After the Team winners have been announced and the draw of the top-60 players and ties has been made, the third and final round will tee off at 10:45am local time. It will employ a two-tee start with TV times remaining the same.
