The 2024 Solheim Cup is set to begin in 200 days and will see the top talent from the United States and Europe go head-to-head at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Va., for the 19th playing of the biennial team event.
The 2023 edition of the Solheim Cup at Finca Cortesin in Andalucia, Spain ended in a 14-14 tie for the first time in the event’s history, and Europe ultimately retained the Solheim Cup for the third straight playing, something that had never been done before by the Europeans. Captains Stacy Lewis and Suzanne Pettersen will once again be leading their respective squads in 2024, and both teams will be finalized upon the conclusion of the AIG Women’s Open on August 25.
The U.S. Team will consist of the top seven players in the point standings at the conclusion of the qualifying period, the top two players in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings not already qualified via the point standings and three captain’s picks. Team Europe will see the top two players in the point standings and the top six players in the Rolex Rankings automatically qualify, and Pettersen will make four captain’s picks to round out her squad.
As of February 26, the top two American players in the Rolex Rankings who are not among the top seven in the point standings are Alison Lee (No. 18) and Rose Zhang (No. 21). The top six Europeans in the Rolex Rankings that are not already qualified are Georgia Hall (No. 23), Linn Grant (No. 24), Leona Maguire (No. 28), Carlota Ciganda (No. 30), Anna Nordqvist (No. 52) and Maja Stark (No. 57).
