The Ladies European Tour (LET) is approaching the halfway point of the 2023 season with 14 events complete.
And it’s been an exciting season thus far with 14 different winners from the first 14 events and with lots of first-time winners.
There’s an important stretch of summer golf approaching, but what will happen in the next few months?
Here are some storylines to keep an eye on…
Race to Costa del Sol battle continues to sizzle
In the 2023 Race to Costa del Sol – the season-long race to crown the LET’s best player – we have a new leader at the top of the standings with Spain’s Ana Peláez Triviño overtaking long-time leader Aditi Ashok of India in the latest stretch of events.
The duo are separated by just 78.20 points with Czechia’s Klara Davidson Spilkova and Sweden’s Linn Grant also not far behind. With more points on offer at the Majors and the co-sanctioned events it’s all to play for in the summer months.
Major season is here
The Majors have been coming thick and fast in women’s golf. After Lilia Vu won the Chevron Championship in April, it was Ruoning Yin who won the KPMG PGA Women’s Championship and this week the winner of the 2023 U.S. Women’s Open will be crowned at Pebble Beach.
Europe is the next stop on the calendar for the Majors with the The Amundi Evian Championship and AIG Women’s Open taking place in July and August, respectively. Who will be crowned a Major champion on European soil?
Spots on Team Europe up for grabs
The 2023 Solheim Cup, which will take place in Spain for the first time ever, is getting ever closer as there are just 75 days to go until we get underway at Finca Cortersin and the battle to make it onto Team Europe continues.
Suzann Pettersen’s side will be made up of the top two players on the LET Solheim Cup points rankings, the top six players from the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings and four captain’s picks.
With qualification ending after the ISPS Handa World Invitational, there are only six events left on the LET schedule for players to get their points and impress the captain ahead of her picking the team.
First-time winners shine
In the first part of the year, it was only England’s Lily May Humphreys who was a first-time winner on the LET in 2023, however since then we’ve seen more emerge and put themselves in the history books.
Patricia Isabel Schmidt, Lisa Pettersson, Kristyna Napoleaova and Carmen Alonso have all secured their maiden LET titles in the past two months. With another half of the season still to go, who else will clinch a first win on the LET?
Rookies continue to impress
The Rookie of the Year standings have been changing a lot in recent weeks with the new stars of the LET putting in great performances. Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab now leads the way on 602.30 points having recorded her best-ever finish on the LET – second place – at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open.
Just 27 points behind her is first-time winner Patricia Isabel Schmidt with Thailand’s April Angurasaranee in third place on 518.83. Will there be another rookie win in the 2023 season and who will clinch the title?
