The Ladies European Tour (LET) returns to tournament mode after a one-week break with the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open.
Beroun Golf Club, which is a par-72 course, welcomes a field of 132 players from 28 countries from June 25-27 with a total purse of €200,000.
Individuals are set to compete in a 54-hole stroke-play format with a cut to the low 65 players and ties after 36 holes.
Carly Booth returned to the winner’s circle with her victory at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open in 2019 at Golf Resort Karlstejn.
“The win in 2019 felt great, but I did enjoy the whole week. Both courses are pretty hilly with some trees around so that is quite similar. I played here last year so it is nice to know the golf course a bit better,” said the 2019 champion.
The Scottish player began her eleventh year on Tour with the Scandinavian Mixed in Sweden a fortnight ago and returns to the Czech Republic for her second tournament of the season.
“Sweden was amazing, I learned a lot watching the guys. I hope we will have more events like that in the future. But now I am just excited to be back in the Czech Republic. I want to play the best golf I can and hopefully win again.”
Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen is no stranger to the Czech Republic either. Since her win at the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge – a LETAS event at Golf Resort Konopiste – two years ago, she has had a significant rise in form.
“I really like the golf courses I have played here so far, they remind me of those I grew up playing in Finland when I was younger. I think that is one of the main reasons why I have been successful at the Czech tournaments.”
In 2019, Nuutinen finished only one stroke behind Booth at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open and followed up her Czech expedition with a third-place finish last year.
“That is definitely my favourite memory from Czechia. I started making some swing changes the season before that have come together and I feel more consistency in my game the last two years,” said the Finnish star, who is fifth in the 2021 Race to Costa del Sol.
The youngest LET member, Pia Babnik, returns to Beroun Golf Club after a few successful seasons in Czechia. The teenage sensation started by winning a local professional tournament and backed that up by finishing T31 in the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open at only fifteen years old.
“It is nice to be back in the Czech Republic, I like competing here and also like the golf courses. I will just try to play like I always do and try to do my best. I have been learning a lot from the more experienced players here on Tour and I think it has helped me grow as well,” said Babnik.
Germany’s Sandra Gal, who feels at home in Czechia, headlines the field this week. The 36-year-old has been on a medical break from golf since the end of March but is ready to get back into tournament mode.
Gal explained: “I have been coming here since I was a kid, I have my parents with me, and I feel really good playing at Beroun. I have made some changes to my lifestyle, and I feel much better, stronger, well-rested and full of energy. I am so happy to compete in Europe, which is my home, and on the LET that feels like a family.”
