THREE THINGS TO WATCH OUT FOR AT THE TIPSPORT CZECH LADIES OPEN

The Ladies European Tour (LET) calendar is up and running and about to embark on a non-stop tour over the coming months.

Kicking off the summer run is the fifth event of the season – the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open, which takes places at Beroun Golf Club, and will be the third edition of the tournament.

Here are three things to watch out for…

Sandra Gal teeing it up in Czechia

After taking time off due to a medical break, LET and LPGA member Sandra Gal returns to competitive action this week.

The German golfer, who recently became as US citizen, was born into a Czech family and speaks the language fluently.

Whenever the 2011 Kia Classic champion visits Prague, she practices at Beroun Golf Club and she can’t wait to play this week.

She said: “I am excited for the opportunity to play at the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open. Playing in Czechia after fourteen years is going to be an interesting premiere for me as a professional golfer and in front of my parents.”

LETAS winner Sara Kouskova in the field

The LET Access Series is the official development tour to the LET and in the first event of the year – the Amundi Czech Ladies Challenge – Sara Kouskova triumphed.

Kouskova made history as she became the first ever Czech player to win a LETAS event and the first Czech amateur to win a professional event.

The amateur secured an eight-shot victory over the rest of the field as she carded rounds of 64, 67 and 71 to clinch her first title.

Kouskova gets to put her game to the test this week against a stacked field as she tees it up on the LET at Beroun Golf Club.

Babnik leads Race to Costa del Sol

The 2021 Race to Costa del Sol is hotting up and Slovenia’s Pia Babnik sits at the top of the standings after the first four events.

With 662.67 points, the youngest member of the LET has a 58-point lead over Germany’s Olivia Cowan with South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace in third place.

Babnik, who secured her maiden LET title at the Jabra Ladies Open, had success in Czechia during 2020.

The teenage sensation hit headlines when she won seven consecutive mixed professional titles in tournaments across Slovenia, Czech Republic and Germany.
