ENGSTROM CLOSES IN ON PEDERSEN – RACE TO COSTA DEL SOL UPDATE

Swedish sensation Julia Engstrom had a week to remember at Golf Du Medoc, Bordaeux, winning the prestigious Lacoste Ladies Open De France by a stroke from Celine Herbin and Magdalana Simmermacher as well as making a rare hole-in-one in the second round.

Courtesy of the win, Engstrom added 150 points to her year-long haul, catapulting her into second place on the Race to Costa Del Sol, bumping Belgium’s Manon de Roey to third and closing the gap on runaway leader Emily Kristine Pedersen, who continued her consistency with a T15 finish.

The 2018 LET ‘Rookie of the Year’ has her eyes on more silverware, with her latest victory representing her second triumph of the season and fourth of her career, having won twice on the LET Access Series in 2018.  At only 19-years-old, Engstrom is fast becoming a force to be reckoned on the LET.

Collecting 75 points apiece for their runner-up finishes, both Herbin and Simmermacher made significant moves up the rankings, with the French veteran rising 22 spots to 10th and the young Argentinian jumping a huge 73 spots to 14th.

A fourth-place finish for former Solheim Cup player Florentyna Parker saw her jump 51 spots to 34th while consistent performers Kim Metreux and Meghan MacLaren sit firmly inside the top-20.

Australia’s Stephanie Kyriacou moved even closer to Alice Hewson in the race to win LET ‘Rookie of the Year’, collecting 36 points for her solo 5th place finish. She now lies in 7th place, one spot behind Hewson.
