After a “tough” year, Chloe Williams produced a clutch performance at the Aramco China Championship recording her second best finish of the season to secure full playing rights for 2026.
Sat 65th in the Ladies European Tour (LET) Order of Merit heading into the penultimate event of the season, Williams knew she needed to big result to remain inside the top-70 of the rankings. With the pressure on, the Welsh star delivered carding rounds of 69-71-69 to finish T11 finish at Mission Hills.
It was a performance which moved Williams up six spots in the Order of Merit, securing her spot in Category 4 for 2026. The result also cemented the 30-year-old’s place at the season-ending Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España later this month.
“I didn’t put too much pressure on myself,” Williams said on the task at hand. “It’s one of those where it’s how you can manage your mindset. The golf course suited me to a T. It’s wide, open, it’s longer. I felt like on paper, it was going to suit me. I’m just super glad I managed to hole some putts and take advantage of that.
“It could have been even better but the job is done and I’m super happy. I’m proud of myself because it’s been a tough run this year. I’m really chuffed.”
The result follows and up-and-down season for Williams whose best result came back in April at the Investec SA Women’s Open where she finished T9. Since then, she would make eight cuts from her next nine starts before missing three in a row leading up to last week’s Aramco China Championship.
“I didn’t even have my A-game,” she continued. “But it doesn’t matter how you get around, you just have to manage the situation. I felt like I did that really well. I used my strengths and managed myself well – mentally and technically.”
With a couple of weeks off, Williams can now sit easy knowing she has her card locked in for 2026 – a year which will be her seventh full season on the LET.
“I’m excited now to go home,” the Welshwoman said. “Have a rest and polish myself up ready for Spain. I’ll try to just enjoy Spain because it’s done now. I’m really happy.”
