France´s Astrid Vayson de Pradenne takes a one shot lead into the second day of the Lalla Aicha Tour School, after shooting a first round of 71, 2 under par, on the Red Course at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam in Rabat, Morocco.
Vayson de Pradenne started slowly with bogeys on the 1st and 2nd holes but recorded birdies on the 6th, 8th and 9th to complete the front nine in one under par. A further birdie on the 10th hole followed by eight pars, provided the Frenchwoman with a slim lead over South Africa’s Nicole Garcia, who opened with a one under par, 72.
Garcia started her round from the 10th tee, playing solidly in her opening nine holes with an even par, 36. Birdies on the 4th and 8th briefly placed the South African in a tie with Vayson de Pradenne, until a final hole bogey dropped the 23-year-old from Kempton Park back into sole possession of 2nd place.
Netherland’s amateur Anne Van Dam, Victoria Lovelady from Brasil and American Kate Scarpetta are all tied for third position at even par, with Colombian amateur Anna Christina Kindgren a further shot back at +1.
South African Melissa Eaton had a hole in one on the 11th hole. She hit a 5 iron. The hole was playing 174 yards.
The second round will commence at 8.30am on Tuesday morning, with 75 players competing for one of the 42 places (and those tied for 42nd place) at the Final Stage of Lalla Aicha Tour School, which takes place at the Samanah and Al Maaden courses in Marrakech, from the 17 – 21 December.
