A field of 72 players from Europe and further afield are at Buckinghamshire Golf Club, home to the LET’s headquarters, attempting to earn one of two spots available for the 2019 US Women’s Open, today.
The second women’s major championship of the season takes place at the end of the month, from May 27-June 2, at the Country Club of Charleston, South Carolina and has the largest purse in women’s golf at $5m. Defending champion Ariya Jutanugarn will be among the 156 competitors in action.
The 2019 European Solheim Cup Captain Catriona Matthew is amongst the players in today’s field.
Early in the day, Olivia Cowan made a hole-in-one at the 14th, using a 6-iron from 144 metres.
