TOP WOMEN’S GOLF RETURNS AT THE 6TH VP BANK SWISS LADIES OPEN IN HOLZHÄUSERN

Chiara Tamburlini

The sixth VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open will once again take place as usual in September with the top golfers on the Ladies European Tour (LET) once again competing for 300,000 Euros in prize money at the Holzhäusern Golf Park from 11 – 13 September 2025.

The most lucrative and important Swiss tournament for professional female golfers is entering its sixth edition. Alice Hewson from England will be defending her title, and the St. Gallen pro Chiara Tamburlini – the winner of last year’s LET Order of Merit – will be playing. Thanks to this exceptional performance, not least in her first season after switching to the professional ranks, Tamburlini was rightly honoured with the LET’s Rookie of the Year Award at the end of last season. She thus joins a very exclusive circle of players such as Dame Laura Davies DBE (1985), Carlota Ciganda (2012), Esther Henseleit (2019), Jeeno Thitikul (2021), Linn Grant (2022), and Trichat Cheenglab (2023), as only the seventh player in the history of the LET to win both titles.

In the current season, Tamburlini has already signalled her ambitions to compete for victory in the overall standings again this season with six top-10 results. She also finished 14th in her first participation at the extremely challenging U.S. Women’s Open in Erin Hills, Wisconsin, thus achieving her first top-15 result at a major tournament and amongst the international world elite. In addition to Tamburlini, other Swiss professionals hungry for success will be competing at Migros Golfpark Holzhäusern and will want to have a weighty say in the decision, such as Elena Moosmann from Zug and Kim Métraux from Vaud.

Title sponsor VP Bank has been supporting this event at Migros Golfpark Holzhäusern since the first edition in autumn 2020. Urs Monstein, Group CEO of VP Bank, emphasises: “For us, the VP Bank
Swiss Ladies Open is much more than just a sporting event – it is an expression of our conviction that genuine partnership moves people and ideas forward. The fact that we have been able to support this tournament for the sixth time as title sponsor fills us with pride. Together with strong athletes and committed partners, we are promoting women’s golf in Switzerland in the long term.”

Back in the diary as usual

The sixth edition of the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open is now back in the LET’s diary as usual in September. “We are delighted to be returning to the previous September date,” says Roman Ziegler, CEO of Migros Golf AG. “We hope that the Swiss athletes will be in top form by the time the home tournament comes round and that they will be able to offer exciting and highly sporting golf in front of their own audience.”

Probably the most popular trophy on the tour, the 7.7 kg wooden cow ‘Muuhligan’ is still waiting to be lifted into the air by a Swiss winner. In sporting terms, the chances are excellent that this could be the case next September.

Wide-ranging supporting programme and golfing enjoyment within reach

At the sixth VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, spectators can expect a varied supporting programme in addition to top-class golf. On Saturday, 13 September, we will be offering a ‘Hospitality Package’. Former LET player Caroline Rominger will guide interested parties around the course and behind the scenes of the tour event. The Swiss Golf juniors from the ‘Golf4Girls’ development programme will also be guests on the final day. On hole 8, they can tee off together with the best tour players in the ‘Beat the Pro’ competition and get a taste of LET air.

The event partners will be presenting themselves in the Village at the entrance to the tournament grounds from Thursday to Saturday from 10.30 a.m. daily. A barbecue stand and the Village bar will cater for your physical well-being. Event partner BWT will also be providing water dispensers where cool and mineralised water can be obtained free of charge with your own drinking bottle throughout the
event site. Admission is traditionally free on all tournament days and the impressive play of the most successful female tour professionals from all over Europe can be watched up close on the entire
course.

As in previous years, all three match days of the anniversary edition of the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open 2025 will be broadcast on live TV and streamed by SRF-Sport. More than 70 people are working on
the complex live production, which will be broadcast in over 100 countries.
