Sahra Hassan from Wales recorded her career best finish of tied 10th at the LACOSTE Ladies Open de France.
The 25-year-old from Newport, who is now in her second full season on the LET, had rounds of 70, 68, 67 and 68 for a total of 273 on the par 70 Chantaco Golf Course in Saint Jean de Luz.
Ranked 106th on the ISPS HANDA Order of Merit with earnings of 10,432.25 euros from 15 tournaments, Sahra is now hopeful of keeping her full card for next year, with four events left to play on the 2013 LET calendar, in China, India and Dubai.
“I struggled all year with my confidence so it’s nice to finally get that back. It’s been a great week,” Sahra said. “Having my dad Ash caddying to relax me a little helped my confidence, because I was putting myself under too much pressure. It was a different mindset to other weeks and it helped.
“My dad knows how good I am but I never believe in myself that much so I needed that kind of belief pushed into me and this week it came out, which was good. I hope to take it to China, India and Dubai for the final four events of the year to secure my card.”
Sahra estimates that she will need to earn another 5000 euros to move into the top 80 on the 2013 Exemption Ranking, which will determine playing categories for next year.
Despite a rough start to the season, when she missed seven cuts in a row, everything is now coming together.
She explained: “My grandfather died in May and was ill since January but after he passed away I got myself back into it and played well.”
