THIS WEEK SEES THE TOUR HEAD TO SWITZERLAND

Following a week in the United States for the Aramco Houston Championship – one which saw Spain’s Nuria Iturrioz win her fifth Ladies European Tour (LET) title – the Tour heads to Switzerland this week for the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open.

This marks the sixth consecutive edition of the tournament with VP Bank as title sponsor, following an eight-year break. Recent champions include Wales’ Amy Boulden (2020), Thailand’s Atthaya Thitikul (2021), England’s Liz Young (2022), Germany’s Alexandra Försterling (2023), and England’s Alice Hewson (2024).

Situated just south of Zurich and overlooking the picturesque Lake Zug, Golfpark Holzhäusern is once again on hosting duties for the sixth year. Known for its stunning views and mountainous backdrop, the par-71 course offers a unique challenge with accuracy off the tee a crucial factor.

A total of 120 players from 34 nations will tee up in Switzerland for the 54-hole stroke play tournament.

Offering a prize fund of €300,000, the winner of this year’s VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open will be crowned on Saturday 13th September, following a cut of the top 60 players and ties after round two.

On the home front, Chiara Tamburlini will be leading the charge, currently sitting ninth in the LET Order of Merit. She is joined by eight other Swiss players including Kim Metraux, Elena Moosmann, and PING Junior Solheim Cup (PJSC) winner Yana Beeli.

LET’s most recent winner Iturrioz will be in attendance this week – hoping to build on her momentum from last week’s victory in Houston. The Spanish star secured three birdies in her final five holes to surge ahead of compatriot Carlota Ciganda and England’s Charley Hull to secure her first triumph since 2023.

A total of 20 rookies are in the field, including New Zealand’s Amelia Garvey – who sits just outside the top 10 of the Order of Merit, Sweden’s Kajsa Arwefjall, and America’s Brianna Navarrosa.

Of the 120 players, there are 21 LET winners who have a combined total of 42 LET victories between them.
