The road to the Ricoh Women’s British Open continues in the Czech Republic

The Ladies European Tour moves to the Tipsport Golf Masters in the Czech Republic this week where many of the players will effectively secure their place in the 40th Ricoh Women’s British Open at Woburn, taking place from July 28-31.

The top 25 players who enter from the 2016 LET Order of Merit as at the close of entries for the Championship on Tuesday 28th June 2016, who are not already exempt by finishing in the top 15 and ties in the 2015 Championship or as one of the top 10 LET players who enter from the Rolex Rankings, will earn their place in the season’s fourth women’s Major championship, with an additional three places on offer at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open from July 22-24 for those who have entered the Championship who are not already exempt.

Defending Tipsport Golf Masters champion Hannah Burke of England will lead the chase for the qualifying places and is looking to secure her third appearance in The Ricoh Women’s British Open after finishing in a tie for 17th at Turnberry last year.

Also looking to book their places at Woburn are the 2008 LET Order of Merit winner Gwladys Nocera and fellow Olympic prospects Marianne Skarpnord from Norway, Chloe Leurquin from Belgium, Aditi Ashok from India, Ursula Wikstrom from Finland, Miriam Nagl and Victoria Lovelady from Brazil, Diana Luna of Italy, Maria Verchenova of Russia and local player Klára Spilková from the Czech Republic.

LET Members who are already exempt from finishing in the top 15 last year include Norwegian Suzann Pettersen, Swedes Anna Nordqvist and Maria McBride, Amy Boulden of Wales and England’s Melissa Reid.

The Ricoh Women’s British Open will be staged at Woburn for the 10th time next month, celebrating the club’s 40th anniversary and will bring together the world’s finest players led by defending champion Inbee Park. Held on the Duke’s Course on nine previous occasions from 1984 until 1999, this will be the first time that the Championship is played on the Marquess’ Course, the most recent of the venue’s three courses, which opened in 2000, and hosted the British Masters on the men’s European Tour in 2001 and 2015.

Pre-Qualifying for the 2016 Ricoh Women’s British Open will be played at the Berkshire Golf Club, on Monday 11th July and Final Qualifying will take place on Monday 25th July 2016, at John O’Gaunt Golf Club.
