THE 2023 SOLHEIM CUP FEATURES BMW AUTOMOTOR PREMIUM AS SUSTAINABLE OFFICIAL CAR

There are only 100 days left until the most important tournament in women’s golf comes to Finca Cortesin, and BMW Automotor Premium is joining in with a fleet of all-electric vehicles.

Since it was confirmed that the Solheim Cup would be played for the first time in Spain, the date 18th-24th September 2023 has been marked on the calendar and, believe it or not, there are only 100 days left until this important event is played at Finca Cortesín, in Casares, Costa del Sol.

Coinciding with this important moment, the signing of the agreement between the Solheim Cup and BMW Automotor Premium, Official Dealer of the Bavarian brand in the province of Malaga, has been announced.

With this collaboration, this Solheim Cup will not only have an impressive fleet of cars but also will take a step further to become the most sustainable edition in history.

This target will be achieved thanks to the use of more than 40 official cars, all of them electric and distributed among such innovative models as I7, IX, XM, IX1 and I4, which, according to calculations, will result in a saving of around seven tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Alfonso Rodríguez, divisional director and managing director of BMW and Mini of the Safamotor Group, said during the official announcement that “around 35,000 kilometres will be covered during the week of the event, which will translate into more than six tonnes of CO2 emissions not emitted into the atmosphere. We have to work tirelessly to make the world a better place and to make the event completely sustainable thanks to electrified vehicles.”

Iñigo Aramburu, general manager of Deporte & Business, highlighted “the importance of an event like the Solheim Cup having courtesy vehicles that are not only high quality but also environmentally friendly. There could be no better showcase for the tournament’s and the Bavarian brand’s commitment to sustainability”.

The Solheim Cup is already on the horizon

From this moment on, the 2023 Solheim Cup starts its final stretch, as there will only be 100 days left for the best European and American players to meet in the heart of the Costa del Sol.

Almost 14 weeks in which the “Sold Out” sign will most likely be hung, as almost 80,000 tickets have already been sold.

A total of 2,400 hours in which the Solheim Cup trophy, a magnificent Waterford crystal cup weighing almost nine kilos, will continue to complete the last stages of its journey through the province of Málaga until it reaches Finca Cortesín.

And 144,000 minutes of excitement and uncertainty to find out the members of the European and American teams, hoping to have also an important Spanish representation.

The Solheim Cup 2023, an event of exceptional public interest whose official venue is Finca Cortesin, is sponsored by PING, Costa del Sol and Rolex as global partners; and by the Consejería de Turismo, Cultura y Deporte de la Junta de Andalucía, with co-financing from the European Union, Acosol, the Marbella Town Hall and the Benahavís Town Hall as official partners, and Reale Seguros as official sponsor.
