Canadian rookie Anna Huang is continuing to make a name for herself on the Ladies European Tour (LET) with the 16-year-old now in the mix to win the Tipsport Czech Ladies Open thanks to a sensational 65 (-7) on Saturday.
On another low-scoring day at Royal Beroun Golf Club, Huang carded her best round to date on the LET firing six birdies and one eagle which came at the par-5 7th.
The teenage sensation now sits on 10-under par for the tournament and finds herself three shots behind leader Kim Metraux with 18 holes remaining.
“I’m really pleased with today,” Huang said. “My putting was so solid and I hit a lot of fairways and greens. Honestly, my whole game went pretty well. Overall it was great. The greens here are really attackable.
“It’s my first time in the Czech Republic and it’s been really fun so far. I think I’m going to go into Prague tonight and check out the city.”
Huang earned LET membership at Q-School in December before making the decision to turn professional. Since then, the Canadian has more than proven her skills finishing T16 at the Australian Women’s Classic and T11 at the Joburg Ladies Open.
Just last month, Huang also qualified for her first ever Major championship at the U.S. Women’s Open. Despite missing the cut in Wisconsin, it was a valuable experience for the 16-year-old.
“It was definitely a big learning experience,” Huang said. “I had to take last week in Belgium off just to try and recover and get my feet back together. I think that was important.
“I’m really excited for tomorrow. But obviously, I need to stay in the present and take one shot at a time.”
