TAMBURLINI HAPPY WITH START TO LIFE ON THE LET

Chiara Tamburlini

Chiara Tamburlini is content with the beginning of her rookie year on the Ladies European Tour (LET) in 2024.

The LET Access Series graduate started the year finishing in a tie for third place at the season-opening Magical Kenya Ladies Open.

Thanks to her great finish, Tamburlini found herself playing in the Aramco Saudi Ladies International Presented by PIF in Riyadh.

Despite missing cuts in Riyadh and Morocco, the Swiss star found herself back in the top 10 of the leaderboard at the Aramco Team Series Presented by PIF – Tampa.

“I’m happy with where I’m at, there’s definitely a couple more things that I need to tidy up,” she said.

“Even in my mental game, I tend to get a little scared at times as I did on this last shot, so I really want to work on that and tidy that up.

“It’s definitely a really good start! It was a bit of a humbling experience after Kenya to miss two cuts back-to-back but that’s why I’m super happy that I’ve come back here now and shown that I can compete at this level. That was really cool.”

The 24-year-old was chosen by Alexandra Försterling – winner of the Individual event – to be in her team and also played alongside Jana Melichova.

Tamburlini, who had two wins on the LET Access Series, enjoyed her time being back in the States and was lucky enough to have her sister Olivia on her bag for the first two days.

She explained: “It’s been a great week overall. It was a good week even before the tournament started, my mum is here with me, and my sister was on the bag the first two days.

“I was on a team with Alexandra [Försterling] and Jana [Melichova] which was incredible. I have known them both for a long time and the team event was so cool. Plus, being back in Florida – it’s a happy place for me. The whole set up was great and my goal was to have as much fun as I could, and I definitely did.

“I really liked the course. It was great to be back in America and have the wider fairways and bigger greens. I quite liked that. It was a great course, amazing condition. A couple of tough shots today, the pins were not easy with the wind especially, but I really like the course.”

Tamburlini enjoyed playing Försterling, who won her third LET title in six months, with a three-shot victory in Tampa, and believes she can learn from the German star.

She added: “Lexi has been playing so solid. I feel like she might have hit 36 greens! She didn’t but she was really solid, and she has such a great attitude as well. It was a great pleasure playing with her and I feel I can learn a lot from her as well.”
