SWISS STAR TAMBURLINI READY FOR HOME TEST AT THE VP BANK SWISS LADIES OPEN

Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini is ready for this week’s VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, as she prepares to compete on home soil.

I’m really excited to be here”, said the three-time LET winner. “Obviously it’s been a bit of a quick turnaround from last week in Houston, but I’m super happy to be back in Switzerland competing at home. We only get one event each year, so this is really special for me.

Tamburlini arrives in fine form after a strong showing at the Aramco Houston Championship, where a final-round 67 (-5) secured her a T8 finish on Sunday.

It was great to climb up the leaderboard on the final day,” she said. “I felt like I hadn’t been able to play my best golf on Sundays yet so far this season, so that was really nice.”

The winner for this week will be crowned on Saturday. Commenting on what it would mean for her to win on home soil, she said: “It would mean a lot, I think a lot of people are hopefully going to come out and watch. It doesn’t get much better than winning on home soil like this, but that’s not all in my control, so I think my main goal is just going to be to enjoy myself.”

The Swiss arrives in her homeland on the back of a busy stretch of tournaments, flying in from Houston only yesterday.

“It’s difficult at times, but you don’t have much time to think about it. You just get up in the morning and you go back to practice and the gym, so I think that honestly helps a little bit to get right back into a schedule. I think it’s almost harder when you go home and have a day off.”

Tamburlini has enjoyed an impressive 2025 season, recording seven top-10 finishes, highlighted by a runner-up result at the Aramco Korea Championship. This consistent run of form has meant the Swiss star currently sits in ninth place in the LET Order of Merit.

That form follows a breakthrough 2024, when she claimed three LET titles in her rookie year.

“It was a really cool year last year. I take a lot of confidence from it, but we’re already over halfway into 2025, where everybody started again from scratch. I’m happy with some of the results I’ve had so far. I haven’t won this year, so that’s still the big goal.”

Tamburlini admits adjusting to life on Tour has been a steep learning curve.

I felt like it was a lot of golf in college, but then coming into professional golf, it’s just so much golf. You travel so many weeks. I think I had this stretch last summer where I just didn’t realise that I needed a break until it was a bit too late. So this year I tried to do better, so skipped Sweden a couple of weeks ago because I knew I maybe wasn’t going to make it to the end of the year energy wise.

Looking ahead to this week, she is eager to build on her recent momentum.

“I played well last week and I’m definitely trying to build on that. It was the first week back after three weeks away from tournament golf, so it still feels a bit different when you get back again after a break.”

The Swiss will tee it up in round one on Thursday, alongside compatriot Caroline Sturdza and LET’s most recent winner Nuria Iturrioz.
