SWISS AMATEUR MOOSMANN RELISHING BEING BACK AT VP BANK SWISS LADIES OPEN

Elena Moosmann

One of the stars of last year’s VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open was local amateur Elena Moosmann, who ended up tied for third place alongside compatriot Kim Metraux.

Rounds of 65 (-7), 69 (-3) and 68 (-4) saw Moosmann finish the tournament on 14-under-par which was two shots behind champion Atthaya Thitikul.

And it was a memorable end to the tournament for the young Swiss player as she holed out from a bunker on 17 and made a birdie on 18 leading to rapturous applause and cheers from the crowd.

“The atmosphere from the spectators stands out to me,” Moosmann explained. “Especially on the last two holes! I also really enjoy what the volunteers do here, it is amazing and to have that on a home course is special.

“It is amazing thinking about last year, sometimes I can’t quite believe it happened. When I’m on 17 and playing the hole, sometimes that feeling comes back again which is really cool.”

Being local to the area and having Golfpark Holzhäusern as her home course means Moosmann is excited to be back on the Ladies European Tour (LET).

Since the 2021 edition, the 20-year-old has been at school and spent some time with the military but is fully focused on golf for the rest of the year.

And the Swiss player is savouring the opportunity for family and friends to be able to watch her play in the tournament again.

She continued: “I’m feeling good and happy and looking forward to it. Hopefully, a lot of spectators come out again. I want to enjoy it and play as well as I can.

“Maybe because of the rain this year, I think the roll might be a little bit less and the grass looks a little bit higher but otherwise it’s mostly the same. We’ll see how it goes!

“I have my family coming for sure, my mum and dad, and some friends I know are coming but maybe more than I’m aware of.”
