SÜDOW THRILLED TO MAKE IT THROUGH THE MARATHON OF Q-SCHOOL

Ellinor Sudow

At the end of the first round of the Final Qualifier Lalla Aicha Q-School, Ellinor Südow had it all to do to make it into the top 20.

The Swedish star opened her Q-School campaign with a round of 79 (+7) around Royal Golf Marrakech and sat in 146th position on the leaderboard.

However, Südow knew it was just an off day and had the belief to turn around her competition in Morocco.

She fought back with a round of 68 (-5) at Al Maaden Golf and continued to improve with rounds of 67-66-69 on the final three days.

The 26-year-old finished the week in T12 on 14-under-par securing her full Ladies European Tour (LET) card for the 2025 season.

“Honestly, it was tough after the first round,” she said. “I talked to my former college teammate and I was very down.

“I had thoughts of quitting golf at the beginning of 2024, so I’m glad I gave it another shot. The first round was a tough day for sure, but it was just an off day.

“I had been playing really well the two days before, and felt like I was there. I just knew that I had to give it a go tomorrow and figure out some things with the putting and here we are. I have been playing a little bit better since then.”

Südow has experience of Q-School having been to Morocco in December 2023 and secured her full card.

The Swede has made 10 appearances on the LET with her best finish being T23 at the 2024 La Sella Open.

Competing at Q-School on the same golf courses again meant Südow knew what to expect and was pleased with the turnaround in her game.

She continued: “Knowing it is a marathon for sure helped me. When I came to Royal this year, I thought it was way wider than I remembered it, which was nice, and then I had that really tough day there the first day. It was really nice to bounce back there yesterday as well with a round of five-under, so that that was good.

“All experience helps with these things. I’m not striking the ball fantastic off the tee or anything, so it is a grind for pars a lot. I made so many really good pars and was able to keep it bogey-free, and today was pretty similar. I’m saving lots of pars and then I had a real good go for lots of birdies, which is fun.

“I’m really pleased to be able to turn it around, get my LET card again, and also to see my college team-mate Cecilie [Finne-Ipsen] get hers as well.”
