Stupples storms around Sunningdale in 65

(Sunningdale, July 29 2004) England’s Karen Stupples took the first round lead at the Weetabix Women’s British Open with a faultless seven under par 65 around the Old Course at Sunningdale to lead a major championship for the first time in her career.

The 31-year-old from Deal in Kent played a strategic game around the venerable Harry Colt layout, using her driver only four times as she pummelled the course into submission with some scintillating iron play and deft putting on a balmy summer afternoon in Berkshire.
