STRENGTH AND CONDITIONING RESEARCH UNLOCKING ATHLETES’ POTENTIAL

The LET players have been participating in pioneering research projects this year, which are supported by the LET Performance Institute and The R&A.

Both bodies recognised the lack of research in the female athlete and are working together to unlock the transformative potential that golf can have on mental and physical wellbeing.

One of these research projects focuses on physical preparation and strength and conditioning in the female athlete.

For elite athletes, exceptional performance requires more than just refining their swing and perfecting their short game. For the very best, strength and conditioning coaching, performance nutrition and world class physiotherapy are vital for peak performance.

Although women’s golf has made immense progress over the 45 years since the LET was formed, health is one of the areas where the greatest inequality remains. Until the LET Performance Institute was launched, many competitions offered only a single physiotherapist for all female players.

This year, with significant support from The R&A Foundation, the LET has been able to provide a team of specialist therapists and coaches, including strength and conditioning professionals.

Through research institutions, the LET Performance Institute supports studies which elevate professional performance and benefit female golfers at every level.
