Stars set for season’s second Major

This week the world’s best women golfers are teeing up in the second Major of 2016: the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship taking place at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, Wash., near Seattle.

Defending champion Inbee Park is close to reaching the World Golf Hall of Fame and has the chance to win the same Major in four consecutive years.

Ariya Jutanugarn is going for her fourth title of the year having won three in a row before Anna Nordqvist broke through to win the ShopRite LPGA Classic Presented by Acer last week. Then there’s world number one Lydia Ko who has won the last two Majors: the Evian Championship and ANA Inspiration.

There are 37 LET members in this week’s field who will take on the par-71, 6,624-yard course including past KPMG Women’s PGA Championship winners Shanshan Feng (2012), Nordqvist (2009), Suzann Pettersen (2007) and Laura Davies (1994, 1996).

LET regulars include Klara Spilkova of the Czech Republic, Nicole Broch Larsen from Denmark and Melissa Reid from England. Spilkova will start at 8.10am local time with Candie Kung and Jacqui Concolio in the first round on Thursday, while Reid will begin at 1.30pm, playing with Ha Na Jang and In Gee Chun and Broch Larsen will also play in the afternoon alongside Brittany Lang and Charley Hull.
