Solheim Cup star Charley Hull is looking forward to another week of fun and laughs on the course as she plays the Aramco Team Series – Bangkok this week.
It is a format where the English player has thrived, with two top-10 finishes in London and Sotogrande before claiming the Individual title at the Aramco Team Series – New York.
“I think it’s quite a relaxed format because you’re out there having fun and you just enjoy it,” said the three-time LET winner. “It is a fun week!”
2022 has seen Hull have a solid start on the LPGA Tour with two top-10 finishes and a top-15 finishes to her name.
With the responsibility of being a Team captain, the 26-year-old chose fellow English player Lauren Taylor because they have known each other since they were younger while they will also play with France’s Anais Meyssonnier.
Hull continued: “I have had quite a good season so far. I have had two top-10s in America, so it feels pretty good. I want to keep on getting results and having fun is the main thing. I usually pick on friendship because I’m out there to have fun and have a laugh.”
Thailand’s Patty Tavatanakit, who won the 2021 ANA Inspiration, is playing in the Aramco Team Series format for the first time.
And the Major winner is ready to experience the Team competition, which reminds her of her days at UCLA.
The Thai star chose Finland’s Noora Komulainen and they will also be joined by Spain’s Leticia Ras-Anderica.
“I’m actually really excited to play this week. It’s a team event, something that I’ve missed since I left college, and so to be able to do it here, to make my debut at home in Thailand, is very exciting,” said Tavatanakit.
“I’m expecting a little bit of everything. If anything, I feel like more fun. To just cheer other people on and be there to support people is something that we don’t normally do.
“My form has been solid. I feel like I improved a lot last year, but just the results aren’t there yet. I’m just trying to put everything together on the right week.”
American Kelly Whaley made history at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International in March by sinking eight consecutive birdies in her final round.
And the 25-year-old is excited to make her debut in the Aramco Team Series – Bangkok and experience playing in the Team and Individual competitions.
“It’s my first team series event. I’m just really excited for this week and hope to bring eight birdies to the team,” she said.
“I think it’s cool because golf is normally known as an individual sport and you’re out there by yourself. All the pressure is on you. I think this week is more about having fun and it brings the camaraderie of the female game, and we’ll be cheering each other on.”
