Tomorrow, the final Major of the year takes place with Carnoustie Golf Links hosting the 2021 edition of the AIG Women’s Open.

The 144-player field was confirmed on Monday afternoon when Final Qualifying was completed at Panmure with the final 15 players booking their place.

American Nelly Korda, who is number on in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, heads the field after a stunning year to date.

The 23-year-old won the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship in June and just a few weeks ago, secured Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020.

Sophia Popov – last year’s AIG Women’s Open champion – returns after making her Major breakthrough and seeks to defend the title.

Teeing it up at Carnoustie will be an international field of more than 75 champions including no less than 29 Major champions and worldwide winners of more than 400 titles on the LPGA, JLPGA and Ladies European Tour (LET).

Last season’s Race to Costa del Sol champion Emily Kristine Pedersen is in the field, as is 2021 Race to Costa del Sol leader and Tipsport Czech Ladies Open champion Atthaya Thitikul.

Winners from the LET this season will also compete at Carnoustie this week with Lee-Anne Pace (Investec SA Women’s Open), Lucie Malchirand (Ladies Italian Open), Pia Babnik (Jabra Ladies Open), Stephanie Kyriacou (Big Green Egg Open), Marianne Skarpnord (Aramco Team Series – London), Matilda Castren (Gant Ladies Open) and Pajaree Anannarukarn (ISPS HANDA World Invitational).

With the Solheim Cup on the horizon, this week is the final chance to impress ahead of the qualification window closing on Sunday evening.

Team Europe’s Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew, who won the 2009 edition of the tournament, is one of the home stars competing.

She is joined by fellow Scots Kelsey Macdonald, who will have the honour of hitting the first tee shot on Thursday, Kylie Henry, Gemma Dryburgh and Women’s Amateur champion Louise Duncan.

Dryburgh was one of 15 players who qualified at Panmure on Monday afternoon. American Lindsey Weaver topped the leaderboard on three-under-par.

India’s Aditi Ashok secured her place on two-under-par while five players finished one-under, they were Denmark’s Nicole Broch Larsen, Australian amateur Kirsten Rudgeley, Chinese Taipei’s Ssu Chia Cheng, Argentina’s Magdalena Simmermacher and Sweden’s Johanna Gustavsson.

Dryburgh finished on level-par alongside South African Paula Reto, England’s Cloe Frankish and Thailand’s Trichat Cheenglab.

The final spots were claimed by China’s Muni He, American Marissa Steen, France’s Agathe Sauzon and Thailand’s Pannarat Thanapolboonyaras.
