STARK STRETCHES ADVANTAGE AT TOP OF TEAM EUROPE STANDINGS

Maja Stark

With the first three events of the 2023 Ladies European Tour (LET) season complete, let’s take a closer look at the Team Europe standings.

The 2023 Solheim Cup will take place from September 22-24 at Finca Cortesin in Spain – the first time the country will have hosted the prestigious competition.

Suzann Pettersen is at the helm and her team will be comprised of the top two players from the LET Solheim Cup points, six players from the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings and four captain’s picks.

After the first three events of the year, it is still Sweden’s Maja Stark, who is leading the way at the top of the LET Solheim Cup points list.

The 23-year-old Swede secured her sixth win on Tour in the space of 18 months just a few weeks ago at the Lalla Meryem Cup.

Stark produced a four-shot victory in Morocco and has now accumulated 208.17 points to sit in first position in the standings.

Just behind her is compatriot and friend Linn Grant, who had an excellent final round to finish second at the Lalla Meryem Cup, and now has 178.50 points.

With the two Swedes out in front, it is Belgium’s Manon De Roey who sits in third place with 94.75 points.

It has been a very consistent start to the season for the LET winner, who finished T9 at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open before recording a T7 result in Morocco.

Last week, De Roey produced an outstanding final round at the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by Public Investment Fund to surge up the final leaderboard and finish in a tie for third place.

The Belgian added 27 points to her Solheim Cup tally and now has a total of 94.75 points with Spain’s Carlota Ciganda, Slovenia’s Pia Babnik, England’s Georgia Hall and France’s Celine Boutier all in close proximity.
