Stacy Lewis Ready to Rule the Links

Stacy Lewis from the United States made three birdies in a row from the 14th hole in her first nine at Dundonald Links on Thursday morning to set the early pace in the first round of the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open.

Lewis, who won the 2013 Ricoh Women’s British Open on the Old Course at St Andrews, is clearly a fan of links golf and seemed to be mastering the cold and blustery conditions as she made the turn in 33, before a heavy shower came in to make the conditions even tougher as she approached the green on the first hole.

Fellow American Cristie Kerr was the next best placed player on two-under-par after six holes, with Ryann O’Toole, Carlota Ciganda, Amy Olson, Leticia Ras-Anderica, Christina Kim, Holly Clyburn and Stacy Lee Bregman all under-par early in their rounds.

Lewis, a two-time Major champion with 11 titles to her credit, is currently a shoe-in for a fourth Solheim Cup appearance next month, as she is second on the United States points’ list behind Lexi Thompson and 19th in the world.
