STACY LEWIS NAMES FOUR ASSISTANT CAPTAINS FOR 2024 U.S. SOLHEIM CUP

  • Morgan Pressel, Angela Stanford, Paula Creamer and Brittany Lincicome to work alongside Captain Lewis at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club

U.S. Solheim Cup Captain Stacy Lewis has selected Morgan Pressel, Angela StanfordPaula Creamer and Brittany Lincicome as her assistant captains for the 2024 U.S. Team. Creamer and Lincicome will serve as assistants for the first time, joining 2023 assistants Pressel and Stanford to work alongside Lewis in leading a team of the top-12 American female golfers at the Solheim Cup, being held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville, Va., on Sept. 13-15, 2024.

“I’m so excited to have Morgan and Angela back for this year at RTJ! Then thinking about what I learned last year in Spain and from previous captains, I asked Paula and Brittany to join the team as well,” said Lewis. “These four have so much experience and love for the Solheim Cup, plus they’re my friends and all major champions too. I’m excited to see them in this role and to help prepare them to be future captains as well.”

Paula Creamer

Paula Creamer is a 10-time LPGA Tour winner, becoming a major champion at the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open. Creamer played on her first U.S. Solheim Cup Team as an LPGA Tour rookie in 2005 at age 19, then the youngest player in U.S. Solheim Cup history. She also represented the United States in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. Her seven foursomes victories are the most for any American player, and her 7-and-5 singles win over Laura Davies in 2005 is the third-largest margin of victory in Solheim Cup singles history.

“When Stacy asked me to be on her team for the Solheim Cup, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. My seven Solheim Cups are some of the best memories of my career, and I can’t wait to make more memories working with Stacy,” said Creamer. “I’m especially honored to be part of a Solheim Cup that’s taking place just outside of our nation’s Capital. Anyone who knows me knows that our military and veterans are incredibly important to me. Having this competition so close to Washington D.C. is just another element that will make that week in September so special.”

Lewis and Creamer were U.S. Solheim Cup teammates in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017, partnering for one foursomes victory in 2013.

Brittany Lincicome

Brittany Lincicome has top-10 finishes in all five LPGA Tour major championships, including titles at the 2009 and 2015 Chevron Championships. She has eight overall victories, and in 2018, she became the sixth woman ever to compete in a PGA Tour event. Lincicome has competed in six Solheim Cups, representing the USA in 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017. Her four four-ball partnerships with Brittany Lang are the most for any duo in Solheim Cup history, and the pair went a perfect 4-0-0.

“Serving as an Assistant Captain to the U.S. Solheim Cup Team will be one of the greatest honors of my career,” said Lincicome. “My years competing for the U.S. Team hold some of the highlights of my career and my entire life. It is such a privilege to represent our country and I couldn’t be more excited to take on this new role. Go USA!”

Lewis and Lincicome were U.S. Solheim Cup teammates in 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017.

Morgan Pressel

In 2007, Morgan Pressel won The Chevron Championship at age 18, then the youngest major winner in LPGA Tour history. She added a second Tour victory to her resume at the 2008 Kapalua LPGA Classic and has 66 career top-10 finishes. She was a member of the U.S. Team at the 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2019 Solheim Cup, going undefeated in 2011 with a 4-0-0 record, and secured the winning point in 2009 with a 3-and-2 win over Anna Nordqvist.

Lewis and Pressel were U.S. Solheim Cup teammates in 2011, 2013 and 2015.

Angela Stanford

Angela Stanford has been a member of the LPGA Tour since 2001. She has seven LPGA Tour victories, including earning her first major title at the 2018 Amundi Evian Championship in her 18th season on Tour. She has competed in six Solheim Cups, representing the USA in 2003, 2007, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2015. In 2015, Stanford earned the winning point for the U.S. Team with her 2-and-1 victory over Suzann Pettersen.

Lewis and Stanford were U.S. Solheim Cup teammates in 2011, 2013 and 2015, and were both assistant captains under Captain Pat Hurst at the 2021 Solheim Cup.
